Newroz 2024 Istanbul. The first fire of newroz this year will be lit on 15 march in karakoçan. At an impressively large newroz celebration in istanbul on sunday, hundreds of thousands of people once again showed that the kurds' struggle for peace, freedom and democracy cannot be suppressed with repression and violence.
Some 224 people were detained during the event in istanbul, the istanbul governor’s office announced. The first newroz in istanbul was organised in 1979, with only about 1,500 people participating.
